Do you remember high school days when you spent time in detention, a classroom filled with other kids who also broke some rule? In some regards, it was a sign of shame. You got caught doing something against rules. In other circles, it was a badge of honor. While in detention, maybe you passed the time doodling, scribbling designs with pen and paper. Maybe you got a head start on your homework assignments. It was a good time to experience that some aspects of confinement don’t affect your thoughts. How you think is actually how you exercise freedom. Think of two or three things that can’t be taken away from you regardless of where you are. Why does time with any of these pursuits make you feel free?
