Singer/songwriter, Billy Joel, struck gold when he composed Just the Way You Are.  The lyrics begin,  “Don’t go changing to try and please me. You never let me down before.” In a world of constant change, it can seem refreshing to recognize the things in your life that don’t change. Neighborhood restaurants you have come to trust for preparing a favorite dish just the way you like it, or having a standing plan to talk to a relative or best friend every week at the same time — these kinds of things can become precious. It is great to be open to new things or to alternate a routine, but there is something very grounding and comforting in knowing there’s something you can count on operating the same way all the time. Think of five things or relationships that you like “just the way they are.”  Why are these things important to you?  What might you be grateful for?
