Have you ever felt proud or pleased that you were able to produce the exact thing that was needed in a specific situation.  Perhaps you had a snack bar tucked away in your backpack when you heard a friend announce being famished.  Or, maybe you were able to provide a ten dollar bill and two fives when someone wanted change for a twenty.  Or, maybe you were able to produce a pen when a signature was needed.   How do you practice knowing what you have?  Your resources?   Do you mentally run through what you have in your purse or wallet each day?  Do you construct pictures in your head of the last time you used something (and where you put it)?  To use mindfulness to practice gratitude, it’s good to understand your own habits when you want to be conscious of something.  Right now, name five things in your wallet or in the console of your car.  Check to see if you recalled the items correctly.  Think about ways to record details of events, people, or resources in your mind, so that that you know what you have when it might be needed.
