They say that “Necessity is the Mother of Invention.” I’d say “whimsy” is a close runner up. Years ago, I wrote a booklet called 50 Great Inventions – You’ll Probably Never See. I catalogued concepts for inventions like the noodle scissors (preventing uncouth spaghetti slurping) and inflatable lawyers (blow-up, pin stripe suited dolls with pre-recorded messages that can threaten an adversary into reasonable behavior). The exercise of thinking of inventions that could solve problems is amazing! Can you think of some inventions you especially grateful for? Can you connect with gratitude for your imagination for conceiving something that doesn’t yet exist?
