Think about your experiences “paying it forward,” your experiences on the giving side and also on the receiving end. Maybe you can recall giving a few singles to a homeless person or a family when you were stopped at a traffic light. Maybe your wallet was full and you felt you were in a good position to give away some financial resources without attachment. Maybe it has been harder for you to accept help from someone that you didn’t know. It might be good to consider his or her need to give something away within their means and without attachments. It’s okay not to understand someone’s specific motivation to make a kind and generous gesture. It’s good, sometimes, just to be grateful and gracious … and think about how you can pay the kindness forward.
